Parts-Express.com shopping cart

I lead the design for parts-express.com’s cart process — from initially adding an item through completion. Was an exciting and surprisingly fun project, and I was given a significant level of freedom considering the amount of cooks in this particular kitchen.

Can you tell this design is from 2013? Even so, some of the tenets hold true even in 2023. My approach to this would be completely different than back then, but it’s interesting to look at this time capsule occasionally.

Wouldn’t recommend plugging this into a Lightbox this day and age. Would prefer it to open its own page to allow for cleaner code and accessibility.

Bonus Relic! Asset sprite.

In an attempt to load the page faster, we baked all graphics on the page into a single image. That way there would only need to be one call to load all elements on the page. This approach has since been eclipsed by better image compression and common sense.
